02 — Compatibility Check
✓ Voltage — Compatible
TCHZ battery runs at 48V/51.2V. Techfine inverter supports 24V and 48V battery systems. They'll talk the same voltage language.
✓ Solar Sizing — Well Matched
8 × 730W panels = 5,840W array. Inverter maximum PV input is 5,500W — you're right in the sweet spot. Slight overpanel is intentional: compensates for cloud cover and temperature derating in the Kenyan sun.
✓ Battery Capacity — Sensible Pairing
A 10KWh battery behind a 6.2KW inverter powers a modest Kenyan home (lights, fridge, TV, fans, phone charging) for 6–10 hours depending on load. At full inverter draw, you get ~1.5 hours of maximum output.
⚠ BMS Communication — Confirm Before Ordering
Techfine lists BMS communication support. TCHZ has built-in BMS. Most Chinese LiFePO4 batteries use CAN bus or RS485 protocols. If they don't match, the system still works — but your inverter will show inaccurate battery state-of-charge readings. Ask both suppliers for their BMS protocol spec before you commit.

// Potential savings vs local retail
Even after 25% import duty + 16% VAT + shipping, the Alibaba route lands ~KSh 365,000 cheaper than buying the same specs locally. That's enough to cover professional installation, mounting hardware, cabling, breakers, and still have change for the nyama choma celebration.
04 — Before You Order
-
Import duty hits hard on single units. The ~41% duty+VAT calculation assumes standard import. If you're buying multiple systems or splitting a container with other buyers, the per-unit logistics cost drops significantly.
-
Confirm BMS protocol before paying. Ask both Techfine and TCHZ: "What BMS communication protocol does this unit use — CAN bus, RS485, or proprietary?" One WhatsApp message can save you a headache.
-
730W double-glass panels are heavy. Each panel weighs ~30kg vs ~20kg for standard panels. Your roof structure and mounting rails need to be rated for the extra load. Get a structural check before installation.
-
All three are off-brand Chinese. No local warranty support, no walk-in service centre. If a unit fails, you're dealing with Alibaba dispute resolution and international shipping. Mitigate by buying from verified suppliers with 100% positive feedback and 3+ years on platform.
-
Charge parameters need manual tuning. Configure the inverter's battery charging settings (max charge current, cutoff voltage, float voltage) to match TCHZ specs exactly. Wrong settings degrade battery life faster than anything else.
